About Dr Christo Anthonissen
Originally from Bellville, Cape Town, Dr Christo Anthonissen is a well accomplished medical doctor, currently practising in Alberton, Gauteng. A passionate doctor described by his patients as loving, caring and thorough.
After completing his secondary education at Bellville High school, Dr Christo started with his medical studies at the University of Stellenbosch in 2010. Recognising the challenges that the South African healthcare system faces, he integrated rural clinical school in his senior years at university. He was one of the founding members that started a community initiative program in the town of Worcester, called “Growth is Good”. The program was a multidisciplinary-team approach, focusing on paediatric TB and childhood development. During his final year of studies, Dr Christo achieved multiple accomplishments, including being under the top 10 internal medicine students, and passing his ENT and anaesthesiology block with cum laude.
Dr Christo completed both his internship and community service at Pholosong hospital in Gauteng. It was after this, he started building up a wealth of experience in family medicine, emergency medicine (both private and public), prehospital care, aviation medicine and telehealth. Not only does Dr Christo have a postgraduate diploma in primary emergency care, he is also accredited and up to date in emergency Point of Care Ultrasound, Paediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Experienced Providers, Aviation for Healthcare Providers and Advanced Trauma Life Support.
